Mickey J. Brechbiel

October 30, 1939 — January 22, 2016

Mickey (Mick) J. Brechbiel, 76, of Logansport, died of natural causes on Friday, January 22, 2016 in his residence.

Mick was born on October 30, 1939 in the front bedroom of a small house one-half block from Main St. in Burnettsville, to the late Ralph and Lois Brechbiel. He graduated from Burnettsville High School in 1957. After four years in the Navy, he moved back to Burnettsville where he worked as a Barber for several years before working at Rockwell and eventually as a delivery driver for the J.H. Saylor Candy Company. He also worked for a small time as a delivery driver for Buttice Fruits.

He was a social butterfly in his own rite and a loving father. He married Marilyn Morrison and the couple had two children together (Chrystal and Shannen). Subsequently, he married Judy Woodruff and had one child together (Darlene). Subsequently, he then married Loretta Cain and her daughter (Mindy).

Mick was a socially active man who was deeply involved with the VFW Post #3790 and the American Legion Post #60 for the majority of his life. He enjoyed playing cards, reading horoscopes, golf, and generally just spending time with other people. His family and friends will always remember him as ornery, outgoing, friendly, and a loving person.

Mick is survived by his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter, Chrystal (Darren) Goff and Macy, of Austin, TX; his daughter, granddaughters, grandson-in-law, and great-grandson, Shannen Beckman of Long Beach, CA; Tasha (Mark) Jansen and Finn, of Long Beach, CA; and Olivia Beckman, of Evansville, IN; and his daughter, granddaughters and great-granddaughters, Darlene Wasson of Peru, IN, Kayla Scott, Jayden and Milee of Peru, IN, and Andrea Smith of Peru, IN, and his sister-in-law, Pat Brechbiel.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Bruce A. Brechbiel, of Logansport, IN.

A Memorial Service with military rites will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 6, 2016 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Marocco-Rans Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life to follow, beginning at 1:00 p.m., at the VFW Post # 3790 (1023 Erie Ave.) in Logansport. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mick’s life.

The family would like to thank Tonya, and his Bend in the Woods family, and Crissy Fry and her family for being there for him in his daily life; being his supplemental family for us that live far away.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW POST #3790 and/or the American Legion post #60.
