Nellie Pearl Bruce Powell, 91, of Logansport, passed away at 1:08 p.m., Sunday, February 24, 2013 at her residence.

Born on January 4, 1922 in Rockfield, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bessie (Benefield) Bruce. On February 14, 1938 she married Lonnie C. Powell, he survives.

She was a homemaker who liked to sew, read, listen to music, playing the organ and she loved to play with all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Nellie also enjoyed reading poems, traveling, making sugar cream pies and rocking all her babies. She is a member of Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church and a former member of Rockfield Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband of 75 years, Lonnie C. Powell of Logansport, her children, James Powell (Cherrie) of Sellersburg, Joyce Likens of Logansport, Rita Bonnell of Logansport, Dennis Powell of Logansport, Thomas Powell (Lisa) of Logansport and Anthony Powell of Logansport, 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Harve, Charles, Lewis and Floyd Bruce, sister, Jennie Stull and son in laws, Phil Likens and Jerry Bonnell.

Service will be private.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Marocco-Rans Funeral Chapel.

Burial will be at Ever Rest Memorial Park.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Alzheimer's Association and/or Great Lakes Hospice.
