Patricia L. (Sanders) Zellers

March 17, 1932 — July 11, 2012

Patricia L. Zellers, 80 of Kewanna passed away at 3:05 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Hickory Creek of Rochester after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Born March 17, 1932 in Hammond, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Jeanette (Whitaker) Sanders. On November 23, 1950 in Kewanna, she married Virgil R. Zellers and he preceded in death September 26, 2010. She was a 1950 Kewanna High School graduate. Pat was a secretary at Kewanna High School where she retired in 1971 after 12 years. She was also formerly employed at Kewanna Implement, Kewanna Screen Printing and Harrison-Metzger Funeral Homes. She was a charter member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Kewanna. Pat was a well-known seamstress and made many wedding gowns and dresses. She also enjoyed crafts of many kinds. She and her husband, Virgil liked traveling in their RV and visiting with friends they met along the way. Pat was a dog lover and lovingly raised and cared for her special friends. Survivors include her nephew, John Grant and wife Pat of Fort Wayne, her 'adopted' family and best friends, Richard and Tami Powell of Kewanna and their children, Traci Leininger and husband T.J., Trent Powell and Trisha Forry and husband Brent, brothers and sisters in law, Wayne Zellers and wife Doris of Sun City Center, Florida and Herbert Zellers and wife Becky of Rochester, Virginia Cook of Texas, Naomi 'Babe' Siedel of Indianapolis, Nedra Bahler and husband Wally of Fishers and Marilyn Williams of Indianapolis. She was also preceded in death by brother, John Sanders and sister, Virginia Grant. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 16, 2012 at Citizens IOOF Cemetery in Kewanna. Pastor Larry Phillips will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel.
