Raymond J. Brewer

Raymond J. Brewer, 84, of Logansport passed away at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 10, 2013 at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born on September 14, 1928 in White County, he was the son of the late Ray and Dorothy (DeWitt) Brewer. On October 25, 1953 he married Marjorie Weaver who survives.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. While in the service he was a witness to the testing of the A Bomb in Desert Rock, Nevada. He was one of the soldiers chosen to drive a deployment to sign the Japanese peace treaty in San Francisco. While in Korea he drove trucks full of ammunition to the front lines. He was also a recipient of the Bronze Star.

He was a member of V.F.W. Post #3790 in Logansport and he retired from White Rogers Manufacturing in 1975. Raymond enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Brewer of Logansport, daughters, Peggy Fauvergue (Greg) of Royal Center and Darlene Roller (Jerry, Jr.) of Logansport, son, Howard Brewer (Becky) of Logansport, grandson, Justin Roller (Chelsy)of Monticello, great grandson, Graysen Roller, sister, Carole Rogers of Logansport and brother, Keith Brewer (Carole) of Noblesville. He is also survived by step grandchildren, Kim Gordon (Aaron Johnson)of Chicago, Kelly Gordon and Michael Gordon (Sarah), both of Kokomo.

He was also preceded in death by granddaughter, Angie Roller, sister, Marjorie Strasser, 2 brother in laws, Mac Strasser and Merle Rogers, 3 nephews, Kenneth Brewer, David Gainer and Jim Guy and niece, Pam (Rogers) Ellison.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 15. 2013 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Homes, Royal Center Chapel with Pastor Tim McKaig officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the funeral home.

Burial with Military Rites will be performed at Kistler Cemetery in Royal Center.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
