Raymond Eugene Hurlburt, 85, Logansport passed away at 9:45 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2010 at his residence.
Born on August 8, 1924 in Kewanna, he was the son of the late John Leslie Hurlburt and Winifred Fern (Tippitt) Pummel.
Raymond was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran who was in the first wave at Normandy on D-Day.
He then joined the U.S. Army in 1948 and retired in 1964. From 1964 to 1966 Raymond was with the Department of Interior U.S. Fish and Wildlife serving in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. In 1966 he was employed by the Department of Defense, Corps of Engineers working mainly in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
Raymond spent his summers in Logansport and wintered in Florida, his passions were hunting, firearms, fishing, and horses. He traveled the world and gained many friends at every stop. Raymond was a beloved father, brother, uncle and friend who truly lived life to the fullest. His wonderful stories from all his travels will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his children, Diana Sander of St. Petersburg, Florida, Frank Hurlburt of Tacoma, Washington, Karma Tran of Tacoma, Washington and Tom Ko of Seattle, Washington, brother, Robert Clouse of Kokomo, sister, Mary Ellen Gunter, of Logansport, and grandchildren, Isabella Ko, Khoa Tran and Kayle Ann Tran.
He was also preceded in death by sisters, Eva Terry and Donna Rader and a brother, Glen Hurlburt.
Military Rites and a Celebration of Life will be at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Marocco Funeral Chapel.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to anything veteran related.
