Richard D. Green

Richard D. Green, 81, of Kewanna passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 5, 2020.

Born on August 20, 1938 in Fulton, he was the son of the late Charles and Mildred (Dubuque) Green.

He was a 1957 Fulton High School graduate.  After high school, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army and served four years, two as reservist. During the following years, he served on the Kewanna Police Dept. and after as a Fulton County Sheriff Dept. Reserve Officer.

On September 19, 1959 he married Janice “Jane” L. Zartman in the Kewanna Church of Christ where he served as an Elder.

He retired from the Sealed Power Corporation in Rochester after 34 years. After retirement, Richard worked at Winamac Coil Spring for a time until he started a lawn care service which he enjoyed.

Richard was lifelong sportsman. He loved hunting and fishing and shared his love with many of his family and friends. Richard’s biggest passion was for the Lord. He tried to live his life as an example to his family and friends. He spent time with anyone who needed a friend or just someone to listen.

Richard sang in the gospel group “The Reason We Sing” for many years. His love of music continued as a member of the church praise team.

Survivors include his wife, Janice “Jane” Green of Kewanna, daughter, Dawn Nikolich (Rick) of Tennessee, son, Dale Green (Wendy) of Culver, sister, Janice Raderstorf (Gilbert) of Arkansas, sister-in-law, Shirley Zartman of Kewanna, grandchildren, Haley, Heath, Holt, Joshua, Luke, Jacob, Brittany, Samantha, Gunnar and Lindsey.  He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, a niece and several nephews.

He was also preceded in death by great grandson, Ian.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2020 at the Kewanna Church of Christ with Pastor Scott Meneely officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Inurnment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Rochester at a later date.
