Richard D. Klimes, 89 of Logansport formerly of Lucerne passed away peacefully at 6:30 p.m., Monday, July 22, 2019 at Pleasant Escape Senior Living in Logansport, surrounded by his family.
Born on October 5, 1929 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Holub) Klimes.
On September 3, 1955 he married Carol J. Morgan. She preceded him in death on October 28, 2008.
Richard was employed at Wilson Foods for 50 years and after retirement he worked as a custodian for the Catholic Churches of Logansport. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and enjoyed giving Communion and prayer to local shut-ins. He was also very devoted to his church, his family and his friends.
Survivors include his children, David R. Klimes (Liz) of Greenwood, Diane M. Geisler (Dave) of Logansport, Douglas A. Klimes (Christi) of Louisville, Ohio and Debra R. Julian (Scott) of Logansport, daughter in law, Deb Klimes of Logansport, brother, Donald Klimes (Joyce) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, sisters in law, Sue Starr, Kristy Albright and Kathy Coleman (Steve) all of Iowa, 12 grandchildren, Michael Klimes, Jeffrey Klimes (Michelle), Catherine Bagley (Jacob), Dante Klimes, Jessica Crippen (Jennings), Joshua Erickson (Kayla), Mathew Erickson (Crystal), Aubrey Strasser (Nick), Christopher Klimes (Brittany), Brittany Fitzwater (Trey), Brandon Julian and Ryan Julian, granddaughters in law, Jane Homburg of Fulton and Amanda Klimes of Galveston, step granddaughter, Tero McCarty and step grandsons, Scott Geisler (Lisa), Eric Geisler (Tammy), Jason Geisler and Jeremy Geisler (Larissa). He is also survived by 32 great grandchildren with 2 on the way and several nieces and nephews.
He is also preceded in death by son, Daniel Klimes, grandsons, Jason and Jacob Klimes, sisters, Mary Jane Fisher and Elizabeth Klimes, brothers, Robert Klimes and Joseph Klimes and brothers in law, Tim Albright and Junior Starr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 26, 2019 at All Saints Catholic Church.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Marocco-Rans Funeral Chapel with a Scripture Service at 8:00 p.m.
Burial will be at Ever Rest Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Richard.
