Services for Richard Lee Wendt, 79, of Kokomo, formerly of Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday in Marocco Funeral Chapel.
He died at 11:29 a.m., Monday, January 22, 2007 in Howard Regional Health Systems, Kokomo.
Born July 17, 1927, in Logansport, he was the son of the late Leonard S. and Helen Margaret (Crowe) Wendt. He was married May 29, 1997 in Logansport to Violet Woolf, who survives.
Mr. Wendt was a First Class Machinist at Hughes Aircraft in Tuscon, Arizona. After Tuscon, he worked for and retired from International Harvester. Later, he was employed as a security officer at Logansport State Hospital working for American Security and Investigation of Indianapolis.
Richard was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, serving as 2nd Class Seaman in World War II.
He graduated from Central High School in Fort Wayne, and from the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Richard was a member of the American Legion Post 60 and Lighthouse of Hope United Pentecostal Church in Logansport.
He enjoyed reading, fishing and panning for gold.
Also surviving ar one step-son, Harold S. Grigsby and his wife, Merry, Kokomo; one step-daughter, June McCoy and her husband, James, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one brother, Leonard Wendt, Warsaw; cousin, Delores Crowe Risher, Logansport; and four nephews.
Pastor Joshua Bault will officiate at the services. Burial, with full military rites, will be in Ever Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.
Friends may call one hour before services Thursday in the funeral chapel.
