Robert L. Pugh

December 31, 1938 — March 16, 2022

Logansport

Robert Lee Pugh, 83 of Logansport, passed away peacefully at 8:03 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2022, in his home surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and his sister-in-law, Dorothy.

Born on December 31, 1938, in Logansport, he was the son of the late Wilson Lee and Mildred Louise (Westerman) Pugh.

He was a 1957 Logansport High School graduate.

On May 31, 1958, he married Delores Ann Klein at St. Joseph Catholic Church by Father Vernon. They enjoyed over 63 years of marriage.

Bob formerly worked at Logansport State Hospital and then went on to work at Exide for 30 years as Maintenance man, retiring in 1990. He then went to work for General Tire, which later became Gen Corp and then Trellaborg as a Maintenance man, retiring from there in 2001. After that, Robert continued to work maintenance at Chase Center until fully retiring and staying home. His commitment to working was top grade. His dedication to his employment was exceptional, 7 days a week, up to 12-16 hours a day.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he was 5 times Grand Knight and Lifetime member, 3rd and 4th Degree.

Bob enjoyed restoring old homes and wood working. His specialty was restoring the houses on banker’s row in Logansport. He enjoyed playing cards, mainly Euchre and Poker, and could play for hours on end. He also enjoyed playing golf and his other interests include baseball, track and field and swimming.

Robert and Delores lived on the Wabash River on Pottawatomie Road where they had many gatherings and celebrations with family and friends. Bob was always up for a good celebration. Anyone was welcome to come and sit on the screen porch and enjoy the riverbank.

Family was the most important thing to Bob as he was the “Boss” of the family. When you heard the whistle of Pottawatomie Road, then you knew it was Bob Pugh and it was time for everyone to get home.

Survivors include his wife, Delores Pugh of Logansport, daughter, Shawn Swartz (David) of Walton, son, Steven Pugh (Tracy Knackmus) of Logansport, grandchildren, Carrie Ennis (Ben), Shae Smith (Adam), Lamar Pugh (Nick Anderson), Mariah Swartz (Nick Polen), great grandchildren, Gabrielae and Aleck Fred, Summer Johnson and Stormi Smith. He is also survived by twin brother, Joseph Pugh (Marge) and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

He is preceded by his parents and sisters, Ilene Pugh and Shirley Lane (Allen).

A special thanks to all that have offered condolences, food and prayers, Kindred Hospice, Millers Merry Manor Rehab and Dr. Cory Neumann for their caring healthcare, compassionate care and support during Robert’s health decline.
