Rose A. Korner, 95, of Winamac passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 6:24 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital.
Born on February 15, 1928 in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Helen (Winiarz) Storzek.
Rose started her career in accounting at Ryerson Steel in Chicago. While living on the farm, she not only raised her four children (not an easy task), but worked ground, hauled grain and made sure there were delicious meals on the table. She ended her career in the office at the Sohigro fertilizer plant in Star City.
She gave of her time helping others especially her kids as a Cub Scout den mother, religious education teacher, taxi driver, church volunteer and most recently working the gift shop at the Hospital.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and the Pulaski Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Rose enjoyed reading, playing euchre, fishing, golfing, painting, creating personalized greeting cards photography and any and all adventures. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Those who had the privilege to know her, would say she was kind, witty and generous.
Survivors include her children, David Newman (Jean) of Winamac, Alan Newman of Winamac, Sharon McKinley (Douglas) of Winamac and Linda Webb (Bill) of Winamac, step children, Sherry Stout (Mark) of Star City and Kathy Good (Kirk) of Tyler, Texas, grandchildren, Joshua Newman (Robyn) of Cleveland, Ohio, Blake Newman of Winamac, Abby Anspach (Luke) of Star City, Emily Newman of Indianapolis, Ashley Diveley (John) of Star City, Brooke Browning (David) of Star City, Chelsea Maxwell (Clint) of Carmel, Cody McKinley (Stephanie) of West Point, Aaron McKinley (Amber) of Winamac, Jake McKinley of Speedway, Joel Webb of Star City and Tucker Webb of Star City, and step grandchildren, Ryan Stout, Sean Stout and Carl Manikowski.
