Rosemary H. (Hobbs) Marshall

February 5, 1920 — June 11, 2014

Rosemary H. Marshall, 94 of Aurora, Illinois, formerly of Royal Center, Indiana passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Jennings Terrace Healthcare Center in Aurora.

Born on February 5, 1920 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Ira and Hilma (Dicks) Hobbs.  On July 19, 1941, she married the late Rev. James E. Cheney.  He preceded her in death October 4, 1990.  She later married Thomas R. Marshall on October 18, 1997 and he preceded her in death on January 1, 2002.

She was a 1938 graduate of Indianapolis Arsenal Tech.  Rosemary also had attended Floyd Jones School of Sacred Music in Indianapolis.  She was a talented musician with a beautiful alto voice and enjoyed playing the piano. She embraced life and learned how to play the dulcimer in her 80’s. She enjoyed her computer and her kindle.

Mrs. Marshall was a retired Medical Secretary who had been employed by several physicians during her career.

She was a member of Fourth Street United Methodist Church in Aurora, Illinois.

Survivors include her daughter, Jill Orr of Aurora, Illinois, sister, Barbara Barnes of Indianapolis, grandsons:   Greg Guess, Glenn Guess, Caleb Ackerman and Gilbert Ackerman, granddaughters:  Kelly McCarney and Kim Skaper. In addition, she had 3 great grandsons, 2 great granddaughters and one great-great grandson.

She was also preceded in death by daughter, Dixie Richey and her brother Thomas Hobbs.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will be at Kistler Cemetery in Royal Center.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center.
