Ruth E. Cook, 77, of Logansport passed away on March 27, 2025. She was born on April 25, 1947 to the late Charles E. and Betty Murray in Logansport.
She married Jessie Cook and they shared 63 wonderful years together. During those years Ruth became known as a Mother to many. She and Jessie had six children of their own and helped raise over 150 foster children. Ruth taught foster parenting classes and was a volunteer tutor at Fairview School.
Ruth attended the Nazarene Church of Logansport since she was nine years old. She was very committed to her church and a faithful member through the years. Ruth was a Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir, cleaned as a janitor, and helped prepare many meals at the church.
She will be remembered for her love of crocheting and being a caretaker with a huge heart.
Ruth is survived by her husband Jessie Cook; children: Alice Somsel (Bill), Debra Sanders, Jennifer Smith (Steve), Christina Medley (Brett), Kenneth Cook (Mandy), and Billy Cook; 12 grandchildren: Ryan Somsel, Jessica Staley, Jaylen Somsel, Alex Sanders, Brettina Tatum, Byron Medley, Heather Donathen, Megan Holder, Deven Smith, Mikalya Ellington, Ethan Cook, and Eva Cook; and 20 great grandchildren: Bruno, Vensent, Ryan, Joe, A.J., Raina, Asti, Killian, Caden, Wren, Mikinzie, Charleigh, Oliva, Owen, David, Iden, Miah, and Gabriel.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Services for Ruth will be Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Church of the Nazarene, 109 W. Clinton Street, Logansport, Indiana.
