Ruth Anne (Smith) Logan

Ruth Anne Smith Logan, 95, of Idaville, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 at her residence. Born January 18, 1917 in Cass County, she was the daughter of the late H. Burt and S. Elizabeth (Petri) Smith. On December 22, 1946, she married Yale E. Logan. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1988. She was a 1935 graduate Monon High School and she also received her Bachelor's Degree from Marion College in Marion, Indiana and her Master's Degree from Indiana State University in Terre Haute. Ruth was a retired school teacher who taught for more than 45 years beginning in Cass Twp., White County and later at Royal Center and Pioneer School Corporation. Ruth was a member of Caley United Methodist Church. She was also a life member of the National Education Association and the Parent Teacher Association, Royal Center Pythian Sisters, National, State and Cass County Retired Teachers Association's and past President of the Pioneer Classroom Teachers Association. She also formerly served on the State Teachers District Board. Survivors include, brother in law, Ivan Logan of Royal Center, sister in laws, Dorothy Weese of Logansport and Rosezella Smith of Winamac. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and many friends. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Vincent, Virgil and Harold Smith and sisters, Mable Williams and Florence Leslie. Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Caley United Methodist Church with Pastor Nici Moorehead officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel and also one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
