Ruth I. Sterling, 82, of Royal Center passed away at 11:15 p.m., Monday, October 14, 2019 at Chase Center.
Born on January 1, 1937 in Cass County, she was the daughter of the late Ruben and Goldie (Roller) Oswalt.
On January 2, 1953 she married James Harold Sterling. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2014.
Ruth retired after 25 years from Modine Manufacturing in 2001.
She was a member of Crooked Creek Christian Church and her hobbies included reading and going out to dinner with family and friends. Ruth most of all loved spending time with all her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Sandra Franscoviak (Marvin) of Logansport and Steven Sterling (Rebecca) of Royal Center, sisters in law, Maxine Oswalt of Royal Center, Buella Oswalt of Plainfield, Alda Hastings of Arkansas and Kaunita Ellison of Arkansas, brother in law, Jerry Pratt of Francesville and grandchildren, Ryan, Aubrey, Kristen, Janet, Matthew, Thillia and Chris. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Services will be at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Pastor Scott Ellison will officiate.
Burial will follow at Kistler Cemetery, Royal Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to Crooked Creek Christian Church.
