Shirley A. (Marlatt) Newport

Shirley A. Newport, 82, of Logansport passed away at 11:15 a.m., Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Woodbridge Health Campus.

Born on September 17, 1937 in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Dorothy (Hardy) Marlatt.

She was a 1955 Logansport High School graduate.

On March 4, 1956 she married Leonard W. Newport, Sr.  He preceded her in death on January 14, 2007.

Shirley was a homemaker and she was formerly employed at RBM.

She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and she enjoyed playing bingo, puzzle books, bowling, taking care of her dogs and traveling.

Survivors include her children, Leonard Newport, Jr. of Logansport, Patty Mills (Robert) of Brighton, Colorado and Kevin Newport of Logansport, daughter in law, Georgina Newport of Decatur, brother, Michael Nicoll (Sherri) of Logansport, grandchildren, Amber Russell (Chad), Brent Newport, Deanna Cole (Dustin), step grandchildren, Tuesday, Stephanie, Steve and Angie, great grandchildren, Arik Cole and Kira Cole and numerous step great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by son, Jeff Newport and brother, James Marlatt.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Marocco-Rans Funeral Chapel.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
