Stephen (Steve) M. Sullivan, 89, of Logansport, passed away after an extended illness at 11:45 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2017.
Steve was born on June 1, 1928 in Ft. Wayne, IN to Eugene Cull and Amy Martin. Steve graduated from Peru High School in 1946 and acquired his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, he majored in soil with a minor in crops.
Following college, Steve served his country for three years as an Intelligence Analyst Instructor at the Counter Intelligence Corps School at Ft. Holabird, Baltimore, Maryland. Upon return from the service he was employed by The Indiana Certified Seed Growers, located at Purdue University.
Steve’s career focused on crop variety development, production practices and seed quality assurance, with the Borden Company, Smith Douglass, and Farm Bureau Crop Division (Country Mark Cooperative). Steve retired from Country Mark Cooperative, Indianapolis.
For 64 years Steve was married to the love of his life “Peggy Sullivan”, enjoying a peaceful life on a small farm growing vegetables which kept him engaged with the land and crop production
Steve was a member of All Saints Catholic Church where he served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister.
He was also a member of the VFW Post#3790, a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #718, the past President of the Indiana Gourd Association, as well as, a past President of the Cass County Farm Bureau. Steve’s passion was farming, raising and selling Sweet Corn and Pumpkins for the Logansport Farmer’s Market.
Steve is survived by; (wife) Peggy Sullivan, (daughter), Maureen A. Sullivan of Marshall, Minnesota, and (son), Rion P. Sullivan of Panama City, Florida, brother- in – law, Charles J. Weis of Rochester Hills, Michigan and sister in law, Julianna Volpert of Lafayette, IN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by, (father) Eugene Cull and (mother) Amy Martin, (sister) Mary Ann Snyder and her husband Ralph, (sister – in –law), Betty Weis, (brother – in – law) James Volpert, and (sister – in – law), Joan Weis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017 at All Saints Catholic Church.
Visitation will be one hour before Mass in the Hall of All Saints.
Burial will be at Ever Rest Memorial Park.
Memorial Contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic Church and/or The American Diabetes Association.
