Steven Lee Powlen, 68, of Lucerne passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at home.
Born on February 4, 1953 in Logansport, he was the son of the late Tommie and Helen (Overmyer) Powlen.
Steve was a Pioneer High School graduate and a Purdue University graduate of International Agriculture.
On July 5, 1980 he married Maribel Gonzalez.
He was a farmer and avid Purdue supporter by occupation and woodworker, amateur Native American artifact historian by hobby.
When he wasn’t farming, he could be found out in his barn tinkering with wood, fixing things that were broken. His curiosity for understanding how the world worked was limitless.
During the holiday season, you could hear him playing countless Christmas songs on his tenor saxophone.
His passion for farming and woodworking were overshadowed by the love and admiration he had for his family. He adored his all three of his grandchildren.
His family include his wife, Maribel Powlen of Lucerne, daughter, Genie Childers (Michael) of Royal Center, sons, Andrew Powlen (Tina) of Denver, Colorado, Bryan Powlen (Amanda) of Wethersfield, Connecticut and Jeremy Gonzalez (Addie) of Bettendorf, Iowa, brother, Ronald Powlen (Judi) of Logansport, sisters, Carol Powlen of Lucerne, Julia Hatfield (Tim) of Muncie and Sandra Gunter (Tim) of Logansport and grandchildren, Adileena Childers, CJ Powlen and Zayden Childers.
