Stuart W. Frushour Jr. made his transition on September 13, 2012 at 95 years and ten months. Born in Cass County, Indiana to Stuart W. and Mabel Fern Frushour, he was the fourth of their eight children. During his youth he collected Ford Model T parts and built a tractor in his father's garage. After graduating from Metea High School, he spent time in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He tried to enlist in the military the day after Pearl Harbor was attacked, but was rejected due to a chest injury. He spent WWII with the Pennsylvania Railroad as he advanced through the ranks until by the mid 1950's he had become a supervisor at Indianapolis. He would work for The Pennsy, Penn Central, and Conrail, with a seven year interlude as Asst. Supervisor of the transportation system of Great Lakes Steel at Ecorse, MI. He retired in 1977. A skilled woodworker, he completed many projects, including a speedboat that he used for over thirty years. He was a third degree Mason, a member of Toastmasters International, a bowler and a golfer. Playing the harmonica was his passion. Stuart leaves behind his three sons, Thomas A. (Mary Kay) of Samaria, MI., Samuel S. (Patti) of Bloomington, IN. and Daniel J. of Lansing, MI. He also leaves two grandchildren, Amy Kelly of Mineola, NY. and Kevin (Amber) of Avalon, PA. and four great grandchildren, Emily, Angela, Lily and Benjamin Frushour. His wife, Mary, preceded in death April 30, 2012. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 5, 2012 in Metea Cemetery in Metea, Indiana. The family request that memorial contributions be made to any food bank. Local arrangements are being handled by Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center.
