Tommie J Powlen, 87, of Royal Center passed away peacefully at 7:50 a.m., Sunday, March 5, 2017 at his residence.
Born June 13, 1929 in Lucerne, he was the son of the late JT and Genecie (Minthorn) Powlen. On August 5, 1950 he married Helen G. Overmyer. She preceded in death on June 9, 1986.
He was a 1947 Lucerne High School graduate.
Tommie was a lifelong farmer. He was a former member of Indiana Creek Christian Church and he enjoyed mowing grass.
Survivors include his children, Ronald Powlen (Judi) of Logansport, Steven Powlen (Maribel) of Kewanna, Barry Powlen of Lucerne, Carol J. Chesley (Alan) of Lucerne, Julia A. Hatfield (Tim) of Upland and Sandra L. Gunter (Tim Osborn) of Logansport, brothers, Richard Powlen (Joyce) of Brownsburg and Gene Powlen (Darla) of Lucerne, sister in law, Joyce Powlen of Kewanna, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by brother, Robert Powlen.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2017 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel with Pastor Tim Minnick officiating.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Burial will be at Indian Creek Christian Cemetery in Lucerne.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cass County Humane Society.
