Tommy T. Parkevich

Tommy T. Parkevich, 91, of Logansport passed away at 9:21 a.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born May 5, 1926 in Capari, Yugoslavia, he was the son of the late Todor Koloff and Strabra (Obenicoua) Parkevich. He and his family came to the United States through Ellis Island in 1936 when Tommy was eleven years old.
Tommy was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the 87th Infantry Division under General Patton where he fought at the Battle of the Bulge. He is one of the last surviving members of the Golden Acorn Division and was also a recipient of the Bronze Star.
On November 11, 1965 he married Shirley Ziegler. She preceded him in death on March 4, 1990.
He was a Hearing Judge for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles for over 20 years. Tommy was also a former restaurant and bar owner in Logansport. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Eastern Orthodox Church in Crown Point, VFW and the American Legion. Tommy enjoyed hunting, fishing and coin collecting.
Survivors include his children, Alex Parkevich (Gayle) of Zionsville, Lillian Parkevich (Ronnie) of Logansport, Michael Parkevich (Cindy) of Logansport, Patricia Parkevich of Noblesville, Tom Parkevich (Michelle) of Jacksonville, Illinois, Sherry DeBarge (Mark) of Logansport and Athena Moss of Logansport, brother in law, John Julovski of Crown Point and special cousin, Felix Parkevich (Linda) of Logansport. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by 1 brother, 3 sisters, 1 grandchild, 1 sister in law and 2 brothers in law.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Marocco-Rans Funeral Chapel with visitation from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service.
Burial with Full Military Rites will be performed at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
