Vivian F. (Applegate) Crippen

Vivian F. Crippen, 88 of Grass Creek passed away at 2:20 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2012 at Hickory Creek of Rochester. Born January 24, 1924 in Grass Creek, she was the daughter of the late Otto W. and Edna B. (Kistler) Applegate. On June 26, 1945, she married Leroy Crippen and he preceded in death June 16, 1996. She was a 1942 Grass Creek High School graduate. Mrs. Crippen was a homemaker and farm wife. She also formerly served as Fulton County Deputy Assessor for 3 years and also formerly worked at the License Branch as Branch Manager in Rochester retiring in 1990. Mrs. Crippen was a member of the Grass Creek United Methodist Church where she served as church treasurer and pianist for many years. She was also a member of the 21st Century Club. Survivors include her daughters, Shirley A. Wagoner and Jean E. Rock & husband Rick, both of Grass Creek, sister in law, Corabelle Crippen of Rochester and six grandchildren, Tammy Vigar (Steve) of Rochester, Sandy Cooper and Kelly Wolf both of Grass Creek, Art Crippen of Indianapolis, Andy Crippen of Rochester and Carrie Crippen of Indianapolis. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Jessie Rock-Wolf, Addison Crippen, Emily Vigar, Johnny Cooper, Kelsie Wolf, Terry Johnston and Aubrey Long. She was also preceded in death by her son, Edward Lee Crippen, son in law, Wayne Wagoner, and sisters in law, Zedda Brumbaugh and Mary York Hiatt. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2012 at Grass Creek United Methodist Church with Pastors Don Reed and David Sommers officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel and also one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Friday. Burial will be at Grass Creek Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Grass Creek United Methodist Church.
