Services for Walter Waymon Drane, 87, of West Lafayette, formerly of Nineveh, Indiana will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Indiana Veterans Home Chapel, 3851 N. River Road, W. Lafayette, Indiana.
He died at 8:48 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Indiana Veterans Home, W. Lafayette.
Born on January 20, 1922 in Bardley, Missouri, he was the son of the late Charles and Mima (Looney) Drane. On February 15, 1947 he married Bonnie Beth Brown, she survives.
Walter was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in WWII and the Korean War. He was a carpenter and machinist retiring from Amtrak. He was a member of the Worldwide Church of God, the Carpenters Union and Toastmasters.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie B. Drane of W. Lafayette, son, Pastor Walter Kevin" Drane and wife Marlene of Royal Center daughter Brenda Collins of Nineveh brother Gene & Golda Drane of Trafalgar sisters Ruby Bell of Rockford IL. Arlene Sullivan of Conway Missouri and Lorene & Curt Butcher of Sikeston Missouri. He will be missed by his 6 Grandchildren 2 Great Grandchildren and copious nieces & nephews.
Walter was preceded in death by brothers: Hovie Drane of Atlanta GA. John Drane of Lebanon MO. and sisters Mabel Holliday of Branson MO. and Gussie Ward-Knudsen of Conway MO.
Chaplain David Hess will officiate and burial with military rites will be conducted at the Indiana Veterans Home Cemetery W. Lafayette.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday 03/31/10 2009 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Homes 304 S. Chicago St. Royal Center and from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Indiana Veterans Home Chapel 3851 N. River Road W. Lafayette.
