William Thomas Burks, 92, formerly of Logansport, passed away on January 2, 2017 in Dothan, Alabama.
Born on November 12, 1924 in Monon, Indiana, he was the son of the late James Elmer and Mary Estella (Fulmer) Burks.
On August 15, 1946 he married Josephine Jeroski. After 60 years of marriage, she preceded him in
death on January 8, 2007.
Mr. Burks served in World War II with the 30th Infantry division in Germany where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart Medal.
Bill was a retired professional window cleaner in Logansport, Indiana and also in Fort Myers, Florida.
He is survived by his two sons, William J. Burks (Vickie) and John Burks of Dothan, Alabama, brother, Charlie Burks (Betty), three grandchildren; Christopher (Wendy) Burks, of Cape Coral, Florida, Kimberly Burks of Enterprise, Alabama and Victor Burks of Dothan, Alabama, eight great- grandchildren; Christopher, Jordan, Austin, Vanessa, Logan, Sierra, Melanie, Victor, Jr., and one great-great grandson, Brendan.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by eight sisters.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 6, 2017 at Marocco-Rans Funeral Chapel with Father Dominic Petan officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service.
Burial will be at Ever Rest Memorial Park.
